Report of the 25th World Congress of Social Psychiatry
25th World Congress of Social Psychiatry was held at Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Marrakesh, Morocco on 15th-17th January 2026. Professor Vincenzo Di Nicola was the Congress President, Professor Driss Moussaoui was President, Organizing Committee, and Professor Vincenzo Di Nicola and Professor Rakesh K Chadda were Co-Chairs Scientific Committee. The theme of the Congress was “Caring for the Vulnerable: Making Social Psychiatry Clinically Relevant”. The Congress was attended by more than 250 delegates from 40 countries. Scientific programme included plenary lectures, symposia and workshops, films on mental health, oral presentations and poster sessions. Professor Norman Sartorius delivered a plenary lecture on “Caring for Carers: A Priority for Mental Health Care”. Professor Dinesh Bhugra delivered the Yves Pelicier Prize Ceremonial Lecture on “To Cure Sometimes, To Comfort Always: Foolishness of the Past and Wisdom of the Future in Social Psychiatry”. With ethe conclusion of the Congress, a new executive committee took over the charge of the WASP with Professor Rakesh K Chadda as the new President, Dr Andrew Molodynski as President Elect, Professor Rama Rao Gogineni as Secretary General and Professor Yasser as Treasurer.
